We teach paragliding at Cobble Hill (Sharp Park) in Milton, Vermont from April through mid-November each year.  Paragliding is the newest aviation sport with an inflatable wing that looks like a parachute canopy but flies like a hang glider.  But unlike a hang glider, which has rigid poles to form a wing and weighs 65 pounds, a paraglider has no rigid support and weighs only 20 pounds.  It fits in a backpack and can be easily transported in the trunk of a car or on an airplane with you.

After appropriate training paraglider pilots launch from mountain tops around the world and often get flights lasting hours and going miles and miles cross country.  The northeast US has over a dozen excellent high launch sites including West Rutland, Ascutney and Burke Mountains in Vermont.  With a paraglider the pilot can hike to the launch site with his wing in a pack on his or her back, lay out the canopy at the top and be in the air in minutes.

Paragliding is the simplest and most inexpensive form of human flight, but it requires a training course with experienced, certified instructors to fly safely.  We have offered that instruction for over 23 years at Cobble Hill in Milton, Vermont.  We have taught over 650 people to fly paragliders over that time.  We know what we are doing.

We also have the perfect hill for teaching paragliding.  We created it ourselves just for teaching paragliding.  It has a training slope with a 7 to 1 grade for short, ground skimming flights.  A 75 foot launch, a 150 foot launch and a top launch 300 feet above the landing zone.  This allows a gradual progression up the hill as the student demonstrates control of the glider.

We also sell paragliding equipment from all major manufacturers including gliders, harnesses, helmets, variometers, wind meters and other paragliding equipment, books and manuals.  Gift certificates are available.
