PARAFLY PARAGLIDINGFall, 2005 COBBLE HILLFall is the best time of the year for flying at Cobble Hill with prevailing winds from the northwest and cooler temperatures. We still have two more months of good flying until the cold weather shuts us down in mid-November. Email us at paraflypg@comcast.net to get on our “to call” email list and we will email you when we see good flying weather approaching. CAPE CODWe will return to Cape Cod over the Columbus Day weekend, October 7 to 10. We always arrive in the early afternoon on Friday and teach from 2 p.m. to dusk, Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to dusk. We will stay over to Monday morning if the weather looks good. That gives us a total of 6 possible flying sessions. Call us at 1-800-PARAFLY to reserve space in a lesson and call the Seascape Motel at (508) 487-1225 to make reservations for a room if you plan to stay overnight.
PRICE HIKEWe have held prices of lessons steady now for over ten years. With real estate taxes on Cobble Hill creeping up, together with increased costs for gasoline to run trucks, mowers, brush hogs and repairs and labor costs increasing, we are forced to raise our prices at last. Beginning on January 1, 2006, we will raise the cost of our one lesson introductory package from $125 to $150. Lessons thereafter a la carte will rise from $90 to $100. Our Para 2 package will rise from $750 to $850. Any lesson packages purchased prior to January 1, 2006 will be at the old price. Anything purchased thereafter will be at the new, higher price. BAJA MEXICOThis will be our fourteenth year teaching paragliding in Baja, Mexico. Due to the poor weather we have experienced in late February the past several years, we are moving our trip to the second week in March. We will pick up participants at the San Diego Airport on Saturday, March 11, 2006 and drop everyone off there on Saturday March 18, 2006. No previous experience is necessary. Beginners start on soft sand dunes at Cantamar, 10 miles north of the resort we stay at, progress to a 300 foot launch and finally to the 680 foot ridge at La Salina by the end of the week. More experienced pilots can take advantage of more challenging midday conditions. Soaring flights up to 4 hours in duration are common at La Salina. We stay in ocean front villas in an American style resort. The resort features a restaurant, a cantina, a convenience store, a hot tub, sauna, swimming pool and tennis courts. We are 20 miles from Ensenada and there are many fine restaurants in the area. Our beginner package is $1,275, including all equipment, ground transportation, instruction and resort accommodations. Para 2 and above rated pilots with their own equipment can join us for $999. Save $100 by booking with us by December 31, 2005. Additional discounts are available for two or more. Check our web site for flight logs of previous years. We also have a free DVD of flying at La Salina available upon request.

VERMONTVermont has some great flying sites and paraglider pilots in Vermont have had flights up to 5 hours and covered over 40 miles flying cross-country. Two summers ago a paraglider pilot flew cross country from Burke Mtn. and landed 41.5 miles down the Connecticut River Valley. Quite an accomplishment. It is important that if you fly any of our sites that you have the proper rating and have joined any clubs that provide supervision and insurance for these sites. Always check with the locals for the specifics of any site. They are usually glad to share information and wisdom about the site. |
